Volunteer Opportunities for the Community Garden

Garden Assistant Coordinator

The garden assistant coordinator helps the Community Garden coordinator in managing overall administration for the Community Garden. Duties include developing relationships with gardeners, recruiting volunteers, irrigation system maintenance, fundraising, mediation among gardeners, and ensuring overall garden security. The assistant is responsible for all garden operations in the coordinators absence.

Time Commitment: May-September, 4-6 hours/week

Food Bank Gardeners

Food Bank gardeners are responsible for tending to the garden plots in which the produce is donated to the Food Bank. Gardeners can volunteer as an ongoing commitment or as a one time service project.

Time Commitment: May-September, 1 hour/week; one time commitment of 1-2 hours

Weed Eaters/ Lawn Mowers/ Landscaping

Volunteers are needed to help maintain the lawn and weeds of the garden. Community Action Services and Food Bank does not have either of these, and it is greatly needed.

Time Commitment: May- October, once a week

Fall Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help community gardeners clear the land for the winter season. Labor needed includes pulling out vegetation, clearing rocks, disassembling irrigation system, and hauling waste to garbage sites.

Time Commitment: October, one time commitment of 1-3 hours
